Καθαρίζοντας τη Μεσόγειο: Ο Λευτέρης Αραπάκης και ο Γιάννης Αθηναίος στη «Βάρδια Σαββάτου»

Το Σάββατο 20 Σεπτεμβρίου 2025, η εκπομπή «Καλές Θάλασσες – Βάρδια Σαββάτου» με τον Αντώνη Καραγιαννάκη στη «Φωνή της Ελλάδας» φιλοξενεί τον Λευτέρη Αραπάκη, ιδρυτή της «Εναλεία», και τον Γιάννη Αθηναίο, πρόεδρο του Συλλόγου Αλιέων Νέας Μάκρης.
Ο Λευτέρης Αραπάκης έχει βραβευτεί ως UN Young Champion of the Earth το 2020. Προερχόμενος από οικογένεια ψαράδων πέμπτης γενιάς, έχει καταφέρει, μέσα από την «Εναλεία», να κινητοποιήσει πάνω από 6.000 ψαράδες σε 5 χώρες για τη συλλογή και επαναξιοποίηση θαλάσσιου πλαστικού, ξεπερνώντας ήδη τα 2.000.000 κιλά πλαστικού. Η «Εναλεία» έχει αναγνωριστεί διεθνώς από οργανισμούς όπως ο ΟΗΕ, το UNEP-MAP, η Ashoka και το Forbes.
Ο Γιάννης Αθηναίος, αρωγός αυτής της προσπάθειας, μάς μιλάει για τα θέματα του κλάδου του, καθώς και για τα νέα ήδη ψαριών που έχουν εμφανιστεί στις ελληνικές θάλασσες.

Cleaning the Mediterranean: Lefteris Arapakis and Giannis Athinaios on “Saturday Shift”

On Saturday, September 20, 2025, the founder of “Enaleia, Lefteris Arapakis, together with the long-time supporter of this initiative and president of the Nea Makri Fishermen’s Association, Giannis Athinaios, will be guests on “Fair Winds and Following Seas – Saturday Shift” on Voice of Greece.
Lefteris Arapakis, coming from a fifth-generation fishing family, was named UN Young Champion of the Earth in 2020. Through Enaleia, he has mobilized more than 6,000 fishermen across five countries to collect and reuse marine plastic—already surpassing 2,000,000 kilograms of plastic.Enaleia has received international recognition from organizations including the United Nations, UNEP-MAP, Ashoka, and Forbes.
Giannis Athinaios, a steadfast supporter of this effort, discusses the challenges of his sector as well as the new fish species now appearing in Greek waters.
