Την Κυριακή 2 Αυγούστου 2026, στις 11:00 ώρα Ελλάδας, η Κατερίνα Μπατζάκη υποδέχεται στην αγγλόφωνη εκπομπή της Φωνής της Ελλάδας, «Infinitely Curious», τον καθηγητή Αγγλικής Φιλολογίας Scott J. Masson από το Τορόντο του Καναδά, σε ένα συναρπαστικό ταξίδι στο διαχρονικό έπος του Ομήρου.
Μαζί προσεγγίζουν την «Οδύσσεια» όχι απλώς ως μια συναρπαστική ιστορία περιπέτειας, αλλά ως ένα βαθύ ταξίδι στην ανθρώπινη ψυχή. Συζητούν τις ψυχολογικές, φιλοσοφικές και εκπαιδευτικές διαστάσεις του έργου, το νόημα της Ιθάκης και τα «τέρατα» που κρύβουμε μέσα μας. Παράλληλα, αναζητούν τους λόγους για τους οποίους το ομηρικό αριστούργημα εξακολουθεί να φωτίζει τα μεγάλα ερωτήματα και τις προκλήσεις της σύγχρονης ζωής.
Η συζήτηση στρέφεται, επίσης, στις σύγχρονες αναγνώσεις της «Οδύσσειας», ανοίγοντας έναν γόνιμο διάλογο γύρω από τον πόλεμο, τη μνήμη, την αλήθεια, την ηθική και τις ιστορίες που επιλέγει να αφηγείται κάθε πολιτισμός.

Why the “Odyssey” still matters
Why does the “Odyssey” continue to move and inspire us three thousand years later?
This Sunday, 2 August 2026, at 11:00 Athens time, Katerina Batzaki welcomes professor of English literature Scott J. Masson, from Toronto, Canada, to Voice of Greece’s English-language program “Infinitely Curious” for a fascinating journey through Homer’s timeless epic.
Together, they approach the “Odyssey” not simply as a thrilling adventure story, but as a profound journey into the human soul. They discuss the work’s psychological, philosophical, and educational dimensions, the meaning of Ithaca, and the “monsters” we carry within us. They also explore why Homer’s masterpiece continues to illuminate the great questions and challenges of contemporary life.
The discussion also turns to modern interpretations of the “Odyssey,” opening up a thought-provoking dialogue on war, memory, truth, ethics, and the stories that civilizations choose to tell.
